New Patient Behavior Consultation

New Patient Behavior Consultation

New patient consultations are comprehensive, 60-minute in-home behavioral evaluations designed to assess emotional, medical, and environmental contributors to behavioral concerns in dogs and cats. Conducting the consultation within the home environment allows for direct observation of your pet’s behavior, daily routines, environmental stressors, and family interactions, providing a more accurate and clinically meaningful assessment.

Behavioral conditions are complex medical disorders influenced by neurochemistry, learning history, environmental factors, and physical health. Each consultation includes a detailed behavioral and medical review, risk assessment, and individualized treatment planning. Recommendations may include behavior modification strategies, environmental management, safety planning, and when appropriate, behavioral medications and evidence-based nutraceutical support to improve emotional stability and learning.

To initiate a new consultation, the Refer a Patient form must be completed. Once submitted, scheduling coordination will occur directly with the client. An invoice will be issued at that time, and full payment is required to confirm the appointment. Consultation fees are non-refundable, as significant case review, preparation, and individualized planning occur prior to the visit.

Following appointment confirmation, clients receive a comprehensive behavioral health questionnaire that must be completed at least one week before the consultation. This information allows for thorough case preparation and helps ensure the consultation time is used efficiently and effectively.

The goal of the new patient consultation is to establish an accurate diagnosis, develop a structured treatment plan, improve household safety and welfare, and provide ongoing support for long-term behavioral health management.
